The Diary of Anne Frank
In January of 2017, I had the chance to visit Anne Frank House in Amsterdam where she and her family hid for two years. It was an emotional and spine chilling experience walking through the house and seeing their past living conditions as well as the lost hope of Anne Frank marked on the walls. I was given an art assignment to redesign the cover of a book and I wanted to try with The Diary of Anne Frank, irrefutably a classic in literature but with a slight modern touch. I sketched the row of houses where Anne Frank house was located and used splashes of watercolor paint to highlight the special house.
Here is a finished sketch I made modeled on the row of houses where Anne Frank House is. I wanted to highlight the house where she and her family were living in signifying what made that house so special and historical.
